On the third quarter of April, we will have a group trip in Beijing and thus I expect to see the usual tourist attractions, however, there is one day dedicated for exploring Beijing.

This is where I need help, can anyone recommend a nice place or activity which is not so usual that the group tour is sure to undergo?

I want to explore alone and a neat recommendation is necessary.

Anyone can give their opinion and they will sure to be considered. One point of reminder though, this is going to be one day tour for single individual, and that is me.

I want to share my experience in this blog from the Beijing tour both the group tour and my own personal tour.

Sydney is a very friendly city with friendly people and tourist friendly environment.  People are warm and quite helpful, even to strangers who are lost and cannot find their way. 

Everyone greets you with a smile and should you find yourself looking for anything, there will surely be one to help you find it. 

I can say this for sure because I experienced it first hand.

I was leisurely walking along the Hyde Park.  Because I am touring the place alone, I opted to look at the map every so often.  As I was trying to make sense of my location and my distance from my hotel, one man stopped walking and asked is he can help me.

Of course, I said yes, “I am looking for my way back to the Sydney Harbour”.  I was not actually lost but I want to know if there is a shorter way.  I was led to my destination and he even mentioned some must visit places near the Sydney Harbour.  Even though, I stay in a hotel stone’s throw away from the Harbour, I gladly welcome his suggestions.

This is far different from my trip to one non-English speaking country, when I was lost and had to ask a local, I was signaled to go away.  He even went murmuring about something I cannot understand.

A walk in Sydney is a wonderful experience whether you are alone or with a group.  The diversity will surely excite you and the multi-racial population is a breath of fresh air actually.  You will not feel inferior because people will welcome you with a smile.

Alone or otherwise, I would love to go back again to Sydney.  I have not gone up the Sydney Harbour Bridge but I know it is quite an experience.

Koalas are those furry and cuddly bear-like animals that are natives of Australia.  Native Australians call them Koala Bear.  These lovable Koalas, however, are not part of the Bear Family, thus calling them Koala Bear can be somewhat a misnomer.

It is however impossible to pet a Koala because they are not suitable for urban living.  It is therefore necessary that you visit Australia if you want to see a live Koala.

I recently had a trip to Australia and one of the highlights of my stay is the visit to the Featherdale Wildlife Park.  This is of course an exaggeration, as other people may seem because this trip surely include some of the well-loved tourist attractions in Australia.  Although, no one can deny that my encounter with Koalas are wonderful.  You can touch them and they will not mind you.  The Koalas seem to be comfortable having people around as local and international tourists pose with them for pictures to no end.

Featherdale Wildlife Park is not actually the most popular wildlife park in Sydney, Australia but surely, for travelers on a budget, Featherdale is the place to go.

You do not need to hire transportation from where you stay; you just need to get into a train for about 30 to 45 minutes.  Take a 5-minute bus ride and then there you are, at Featherdale Wildlife Park.

There are other wildlife park including the Taronga Zoo and the Blue Mountain where you will see a Koala, but I was told that only in Featherdale could you come too close to a Koala at less the cost.

It was unfortunate that I do not have my kids with me.  Thus, bringing home this experience and the many pictures of the Koalas and the Kangaroos will excite my little ones. 

I therefore recommend that if you are going on your trip, never forget your camera.  This is going to be an invaluable tool in going to Featherdale.  Keep the memory and share them with the loved ones you left behind, it is going to be one lengthy adventure to impart with them.

Water activities are good team building activities?  Why is it so?  This is so because water activities have many challenges like the water condition, the weather condition, the boat and the people.  While it is true that any sports activity would entail camaraderie and team effort, water activities such as rowing will be such a hard task to tackle if your team does not work in harmony with the rest of the team.

The challenge of rowing is to move your boat in one direction where all the members will be paddling in unison.  When my company had a team building activity in Singapore, we went into a rowing competition.  The prize is far from our mind; our team’s goal is to beat the boss’s team.

We face addition challenge though because our team is a group of twelve people from three different countries and thus each one have their own language and understanding of the game.  We had several talks before we hit the rowing ground.  However, while we all have different ideas and strategies, we are conditioned to meet one goal.  Just like in business, our company has only one goal, to stand tall amidst stiff competition in the FMCG industry.

Rowing is where all of you would have to paddle in one direction, you will need a drum to provide the tempo so that everyone will be able to follow the beat and paddle through.  You can row upstream, downstream and even in a lake where the water is quite. 

No matter what the weather or water condition, you have to row in a single and harmonious fashion. 

As mentioned, we are a team of twelve coming from three different countries, but we have one goal and each one of us is determined to make it through the game and beat the team of the boss. 

It took us hours to perfect the tempo and when the race started, the team never thought of any adversaries except to reach the finish line and beat the boss’s team.

Just like the company whose only goal is to hit our One Billion Sales, we did hit it right.  We where at the finish line few inches ahead of the boss’s team. 

It was victory because we met our goal, and it was victory because we are able to harmoniously row with our teammates some coming from Malaysia, Hong Kong and Philippines. 

While we all come from Asian countries, we have different languages but when team spirit hit it, we did it well.

The challenge of rowing is not in the water, not in the weather but in the team that is rowing against the challenges.

  I have tried so many sports and team building activities such as sailing, rowing and bungee jumping, but White Water Rafting in Cagayan de Oro is the best.  The thrill of riding along with the waves and the rush of water in your face makes you feel like there is nothing in the world that can pull you down.  A fitting challenge for companies who wants to give their employees a boast for their self-confidence and morale.

My company recently our Planning Meeting and Team Building Activity in Cagayan de Oro.  Little do I know about Cagayan de Oro except that it is in the Northern Part of Mindanao.

However, when we land into the City of White Water Rafting and River Trekking, I immediately learned that it is also the City of Golden Friendship.  The experience in the many facet of our Cagayan de Oro trip will explain why this part of the Philippines is getting much attention from local and foreign tourists alike. 

Aside from the warm and friendly people, the exciting water activities and night life will surely justify a visit to the northern part of Mindanao.

On to the White water rafting activity.  We are a group of 40 people and boarded seven rafts.  Each of the rafts would have two guides to assist the members of the team.

It took us about 4 to 5 hours to navigate the 22 water rapids and 18 miles of rushing water.  We actually choose the extreme package for extreme fun and it was wonderful.

The river where we had the white water rafting is river that separates Cagayan de Oro and Bukidnon.  It is wide enough to ensure that you will enjoy the rapids with less worry.

The simple life near the river is very far from the exhilarating experience each of us had while we paddle through the waters and along the rapids.

After the tiring yet exciting water tour, the organizers cater a hefty and delicious meal of chicken and seafood with banana and soft drinks. 

Tired as we are, talk about the white water rafting experience extended up to the plane when we are going back to Manila.

Pictures and videos of us paddling for hours are captured by the organizers themselves which is a neat part of the package.  I will never forget this Cagayan de Oro experience and the white water rafting.  I would truly love to go back with my family in tow.
